If you are in need of a delicious Thanksgiving meal this turkey day then look no further than Emporia’s Church of Christ.
The church will be holding its annual Thanksgiving community meal, however, with some adjustments. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the has switched the annual meal to a drive-thru format.
This means residents will pull up to the church’s parking lot, place their order, pick it up and take it with them. There will be no dine-in option as Pastor Neil Taylor explains the church is trying to be as responsible as possible keeping the pandemic in mind, while also continuing to serve the local community.
Taylor says the change was made partially due to the number of individuals who attend the meal on an annual basis, right around 1,000 people to be exact.
The church will also not be offering a delivery option this year and Pastor Taylor anticipates this will mean roughly 300 meals less will be served than in years past.
The drive-thru community meal will begin at 11 am Thanksgiving day and will continue until all food has been served.
