Daily totals have come down from their all-time peaks the past few days, but active cases are now approaching record levels.
Lyon County Public Health announced 11 new cases Wednesday, well below the one-day high of 45 cases this past Friday and the weekend high of 47 new cases mentioned this past Monday. However, with just two recovered patients, the active case amount went up to 191 and is just shy of the all-time high of 197 set April 30.
Public Health also added a fourth cluster category — reviving the long-term care category — and the county’s sixth active cluster:
*Long-Term Care Facility: 1 active cluster, 3 cases, 0 deaths
*Colleges and Universities: 1 active cluster, 83 total cases, 12 active cases, 0 deaths
*Schools: 3 active clusters, 33 total cases, 17 active cases, 0 deaths
*Gatherings: 1 active cluster, 6 total cases, 6 active cases, 0 deaths
Lyon County’s death toll remains at 41 with one death awaiting final cause from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
