The man arrested and later jailed in connection with an alleged shooting and home invasion robbery in Emporia last week will have a preliminary hearing next month.
Kenneth Hopkins, 21, had his first appearance in Lyon County District Court on Monday. He now has a preliminary hearing Dec. 9 on two counts of aggravated battery and one of aggravated robbery.
Hopkins was arrested after a reported shooting either late Oct. 27 or early Oct. 28, where an 18-year-old man was shot near the intersection of Linn and Whildin, and an alleged home invasion robbery at 9 South Rural.
Two other suspects in the case, 24-year-olds Marcos Diaz and Lance Sutton, remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous by Emporia Police. Diaz is an Hispanic male, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, while Sutton is a black male, 6-1 and 170 pounds.
