Monday was another record-setting day for new COVID-19 cases in Lyon County.
Just three days after posting the largest single-day increase since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic with 45 new cases, Public Health reported 47 cases Monday. The number of overall cases rose to 1,363 cases since mid-March.
Public Health also reported just four recoveries and 43 new active cases putting the active caseload at 168. The highest number of active cases to-date was 197 back on Apr. 30.
The number of deaths remained steady at 41. Public Health’s website is currently reporting just one hospitalization.
Newman Regional Health reported three individuals were hospitalized with the virus as of Monday morning.

Schools: 3 active cluster, 30 total cases, 15 active cases, 0 deaths
Gatherings: 1 active cluster, 6 total cases, 6 active cases, 0 deaths
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported 4,046 new cases statewide Monday with 17 new deaths and 61 hospitalizations. There are now 89,227 total COVID-19 cases in the state of Kansas with 1,046 deaths and 3,893 hospitalizations.
