An early-morning fire has damaged an Emporia mobile home and sent one person inside to Newman Regional Health for treatment.
Fire was reported at 306 Melody Lane inside the West Hills Manufactured Home Community around 4 am. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says flames were visible on two sides of the home when crews arrived.
Three people were inside when the fire started. One man was taken to Newman Regional Health with unspecified injuries. The other two people are using short-term housing.
An investigation continues into the cause. Steinlage says the power was cut off during the firefighting effort, so investigators have to wait until after sunrise to continue their work. There is no word yet on the significance of damage to the home. A bedroom is the likely origination point.
