There’s not much change in the current map from the US Drought Monitor.
Abnormally dry conditions cover most of the KVOE listening area, including Lyon and several surrounding counties. Moderate drought continues south of a line from Lebo to Virgil to Eureka, meaning most of Coffey County and close to half of Greenwood County is affected.
Rainfall from Wednesday night and Thursday is not reflected in the current report because it came after Tuesday’s reporting deadline, although the area had its most significant rainfall since late July. Much of the area, including Emporia, had at least 1.5 inches of rain and there were isolated reports of 2-plus inches in Emporia and central Greenwood County.
