Flags will be flying at half-staff across the state in honor of those Kansans lost to the coronavirus pandemic.
A news release from the office of Governor Laura Kelly Wednesday states that the state of Kansas has now surpassed 1,000 deaths due to COVID-19. Due to this, the governor has directed all flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of those 1,007 Kansans who have lost their lives to the virus as well as their families and loved ones.
In the release, Governor Kelly states, “One of the many terrible impacts of this virus has been that families are unable to hold in-person services to mourn the passing of their loved ones. Each one of these Kansans was someone’s child, parent, or grandparent. They were part of a community.”
Flags will continue to fly at half-staff until sundown now through Friday.
