Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home has a new owner.
William Pike has purchased the business which he has worked for over the past 25 years. Pike began his career at Roberts-Blue-Barnett at the age of 17 as a night attendant before attending mortuary school and becoming a full-time funeral director, a position he has held for the last 20 years.
Pike says he was not the only interested party in the business as there were some offers made from outside the Emporia community. He says this was one of the reasons why he decided to purchase the funeral home.
According to Pike, it was important to previous owner Mike Turnbull, who passed back in March of 2019, for the business to remain locally owned. Pike says having a local owner adds a “personal flare” to the business.
Pike says although the business is under new ownership, there will not be any major changes to the way the funeral home operates. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home has been established in the Emporia community for the past 92 years.
