A man accused of shooting into an Emporia home this past spring is in Lyon County District Court for a hearing Wednesday.
Alejandro Lara-Ceja, age 33, faces eight counts ranging from criminal possession of a firearm by a felon to criminal discharge to illegal drug activity within 1,000 feet of a school.
Authorities say Lara-Ceja shot from his house at 115 South Neosho near Peter Pan Park and Riverside Elementary into a neighboring house on April 4. Emporia Police arrested him allegedly with a loaded pistol and several loaded magazines in his possession. After getting a search warrant for his residence, officers say they found eight firearms, as well as around 3,400 rounds of ammunition, methamphetamine, cocaine and paraphernalia. Lara-Ceja allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.30 when he was arrested.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 am.
