Traditional holiday music will still ring out in the Emporia community this year, however, not from White Auditorium.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, USD 253 Emporia Public Schools has announced the over eight-decade old Seasonal Celebration tradition will be presented in an online format. In an email to parents Monday afternoon, the district stated music directors and student musicians alike are in the process of putting together the virtual program.
Song selections will include the same traditional pieces the community has grown accustomed to with the annual concert, however, they will be pre-recorded “in small groups and tracked together.” The email goes on to state the virtual performance is being made possible thanks to a donation made to the district through the Emporia Community Foundation. The exact donation amount has not been disclosed.
Further details on the virtual performance are currently pending. For more information contact the District’s Community Relations Department by emailing community.relations@USD253.net.
