Lyon County has begun the week with a large rise in active and overall COVID-19 cases Monday.
Public Health reported 16 new cases with four recoveries bringing the overall total to 1,243 cases since mid-March. The active case number rose from 61 Friday to 72.
The number of deaths remains steady at 39 with one case pending final cause classification from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
For clusters:
Colleges and Universities: 1 active cluster, 72 total cases, 5 active cases, 0 deaths
Schools: 2 active clusters, 9 total cases, 7 active cases, 0 deaths
Elsewhere across the KVOE listening are:
*Osage County is at 155 total cases, up five from Friday, with 10 active cases and three deaths, an increase of one from Friday.
*Wabaunsee County is reporting 87 total cases with four active and one death.
KDHE is reporting 2,446 new cases with one new death and 62 new hospitalizations statewide. Kansas now has a total of 78,676 cases with 976 total deaths.
