As Domestic Violence Awareness Month continues so does SOS’s mission to spread awareness and provide services to those in need.
Domestic violence is a widespread issue which SOS hopes to eliminate through their services. These services include shelter, advocacy, and safety planning.
SOS shelter service rehomes victims and their children for up to 30 days while helping them address problems at home. Advocacy comes in the form of emotional support and helping victims apply for protection orders.
SOS Latino Outreach Coordinator Yvette Sosa joined KVOE’s morning show to discuss safety planning. Sosa says you don’t have to be in immediate crisis to receive help.
Sosa says that their goal is to help people maintain a healthy relationship and that safety planning can help people determine their best course of action during heated moments at home.
