A chilly Friday will lead to a cold Friday night.
Temperatures will only climb to the mid-40s by Friday afternoon after getting into the 80s Thursday. Our coldest air of the season will follow with a freeze warning now announced for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 11 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday. Chase and Greenwood counties are currently in a freeze warning from 1-10 am Saturday.
Overnight lows are expected in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees, enough to kill outdoor plants including crops and also damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
