Area residents are encouraged to support USD 252’s annual Honor Flight trip by purchasing a meal at their BBQ fundraiser.
Fundraising for USD 252’s Honor Flight trip will come in the form of a drive-through BBQ dinner this Friday at Olpe High School from 5:30-7 P.M. The menu consists of a pulled pork sandwich, chips, dessert, and pop or water as a drink. The Olpe Fire department will be smoking the pork. All for a suggested donation of $7.
The Honor Flight program pairs veterans with a student for a 2-day round trip to Washington D.C. During the trip, the group visits memorials and landmarks..
USD 252 student Maya Bishop says her trip with the Honor Flight helped form relationships with Veterans that will last a lifetime.
Bishop encourages all students who have the opportunity to take part in the Honor Flight to take part.
The Honor Flight program is still halting all current trips due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But USD 252 has scheduled themselves for the earliest possible trips which come next April and next June. All funds raised will help benefit these trips.
