Emporia’s upcoming Christmas parade is in early December with an entirely different format.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna explained the “reverse parade” concept to be used.
Float organizers have been asked to step up their signage and light use for the parade. Unlike most years, observers will not be allowed to stand on the sidewalks or bring lawn chairs to sit and watch the event.
The parade is Dec. 1 and will start at 12th and Commercial, not the standard Fourth and Commercial. It will also end at Sixth and Commercial. McKenna says the Chamber has been working closely with Emporia Police and Lyon County Public Health to make sure the event can be held safely.
