For the first time in weeks, Lyon County Public Health had a weekend with over 20 new coronavirus cases.
Public Health announced 21 new cases Monday with no recovered patients for the weekend. The county’s active caseload went from 60 to 81. The last time the new case count went up by at least 20 was Aug. 24, when new cases went up 24 from the prior Friday.
The number of COVID-related deaths remains at 37. The number of deaths awaiting final cause from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment stays at four.
Lyon County still has one active cluster category in colleges and universities. There is one active cluster with 65 total cases, six of which are active.
For the state, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced over 2,000 new cases for the weekend. There are now almost 68,000 cases with 771 deaths, up eight from Friday.
