Nearly a week after holding a drive-through flu shot clinic, administrators at Newman Regional Health are pleased with how smoothly things went.
Hospital Director of Outpatient Services and Newman Medical Partners Clinic Administrator Lynn Doeden says over 600 vaccines were administered. She was pleased with the event’s flow, not only at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building but also with the online registration form.
Doeden thanked several volunteers, including nursing students at Emporia State, local law enforcement and the Senior Patrol, as well as support from the Lyon County Fair Board for making the event successful. She also thanked the community for attending.
With a possible overlap of flu and coronavirus, Doeden urged people to get a flu shot this fall.
Doeden says local physician offices, Newman ExpressCare and pharmacies have flu shots, but she said it’s best to call ahead because each location is doing something a bit differently and may have slightly different availability.
Flint Hills Community Health Center will have its second drive-through flu shot clinic Oct. 24 from 8 am to 1 pm.
