Crime victim assistance programs across Kansas are receiving almost $22 million in grants, and Emporia’s SOS is among the recipients.
SOS is getting almost $560,000 after an announcement by Governor Laura Kelly on Thursday.
Organizations like SOS are eligible to receive grant funding through the Federal Victims of Crime Act because they provide direct services to victims including crisis counseling, telephone or onsite information and referrals, criminal justice support and advocacy, shelter, transitional housing and mental health services.
