The plan is for the second Presidential debate coming next week to be a virtual event — if it happens at all.
The scheduled town hall format will remain in place for the Oct. 15 debate in Miami, but a change announced early Thursday by the Commission on Presidential Debates has President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden appearing from different locations. However, President Trump now says he won’t take part, saying it would waste his time.
Biden’s campaign says he will be involved.
7 am Thursday: Second Presidential debate to keep town hall format — with candidates in different locations
The Presidential debate coming next week will be a virtual event.
The scheduled town hall format will remain in place for the Oct. 15 debate in Miami, but President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden will appear from different locations. The Commission on Presidential Debates says this is in the best interest for all involved with Trump currently recovering from coronavirus after his announced diagnosis a week ago.
Moderator Steve Scully and questioners will still be at the host site.
The Commission on Presidential Debates said there would be some format changes after the first debate last month included crosstalk by both candidates from start to finish. Those changes have not been announced.
KVOE will air the debate next Thursday as well as the final debate Oct. 22.
