A one-time contract driver with the US Postal Service Emporia office has been charged with illegal mail activity.
The US Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old Dennis Tapscott of Emporia has been charged with delaying mail. Prosecutors allege Tapscott of opening and destroying mail containing cash last year and this year in Lyon County and other counties.
If convicted, Tapscott faces up to a year in federal prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
