US Senate hopeful and current Kansas Congressman Roger Marshall paid a visit to the Emporia community Tuesday afternoon.
Marshall stopped at the Lyon County Fairgrounds as part of his Keep Kansas Great Bus Tour across the state. During his time in town, Marshall spoke before a crowd of his local supporters discussing his hopes for the state if he is elected to replace current Senator Pat Roberts come Nov. 3.
Marshall told those in attendance that what he can provide during these difficult times facing our country is a message of hope.
Marshall’s comments were preceded by a number of other notable politicians including former governor Jeff Colyer, Kansas Senate Vice President and 17th District Senator Jeff Longbine of Emporia and Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab. Congressional candidate Tracey Mann was also to be a featured speaker Tuesday but was unable to attend the day’s events.
Marshall is currently facing Democrat Barbara Bollier for Robert’s soon to be vacant Senate seat. At this time Bollier has yet to announce any campaign appearances.
The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3. The voter registration deadline is Oct. 13 with advance voting beginning Oct. 14.
