Emporia State University has announced its Distinguished Alumni for 2020.
The list includes:
*Daria Phillips Bossman, a 1991 graduate in Library Science. Bossman taught in public schools and moved into academic librarian positions before becoming South Dakota’s state librarian in 2016.
*Karen Kohler Clegg, a 1970 graduate in English. A native of White City, Clegg was an assistant Kansas attorney general before serving as legal counsel for Bendix and vice president for Honeywell Aerospace.
*Frank Coen, a 1976 graduate in Business Administration. Coen, from Andover, served on Senator Bob Dole’s staff in Washington, DC, and Wichita before joining the Kansas Health Foundation, ultimately serving as chief executive officer before his retirement last year
*Ron Frierson, a 1996 graduate in Social Sciences. Hailing from Los Angeles, Frierson played basketball at Emporia State before working as a recruiter for the Kansas Department of Commerce. He now directs economic policy for the Mayor of Los Angeles
Honorees will be showcased through a series of Zoom interviews later this month into early November.
