Lyon County Commissioners approved a number of purchase requests during their regular action session Thursday morning.
First on the agenda was a request from Lyon County Emergency Communications Center Director Roxanne Van Gundy to consider the payment of the county’s portion of the annual Spillman CAD payment. The total cost comes out to just over $21,570 and was approved unanimously.
The payment will be made through the use of 911 funds and not taxpayer dollars.
Additionally, commissioners approved the purchase of new lights and electronics to be outfitted on Lyon County Sheriff’s Office vehicles. The purchase from Traffic Control Services Inc. will provide equipment for six Sheriff’s vehicles at a total price of $27,043.
In separate business, commissioners approved a request from Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. The memorandum pertains to a grant totaling $24,150 which will be utilized for upgrades to the Emergency Operations Center.
Koelsch tells KVOE News the main focus will be technology upgrades within the facility.
Commissioners also gave instructions for LCAT Finance Officer Shane Brunner to move forward with a grant application process aimed at providing funding for bus improvement projects.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for its weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
