If you needed another scam to worry about — and even if you didn’t — there’s an old one that has returned to the area.
For at least a week, the Chase County Sheriff’s Office has been fielding reports that people allegedly with Social Security are telling residents their numbers have been compromised and are demanding personal information.
The Sheriff’s Office says residents should not give out any personal information if they get these kinds of calls. Instead, they should hang up. If messages are left, they should not be returned.
