USD 284 Chase County is reporting a coronavirus case in its elementary school.
The district says it has thoroughly cleaned and disinfected the building and that process will continue. Staff and parents of students considered as close contacts are now in quarantine or will have to go into quarantine after notification by the Chase County Health Department.
USD 284 says it is in contact with the Health Department to take all necessary steps to protect the health of students and staff. The school is staying open.
Earlier this week, USD 434 Santa Fe Trail put its middle school students into quarantine until Oct. 8 after coronavirus developed at that school. Last week, USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley sent a student home for COVID-19 and told close contacts to go into quarantine but announced no additional measures. Two weeks ago, Emporia Public Schools sent students in four classrooms home for remote learning after a small cluster developed at Walnut Elementary.
