In an effort to continue the immense economic success Kansas has seen in recent months, Governor Laura Kelly has announced a new “unified” testing strategy that is currently underway.
During her weekly COVID-19 press briefing the governor announced Kansas has seen $1.5 billion in capital investment through 64 new economic development projects this year alone with still more to come. Kelly says if the state wants to continue to see this type of profitability, it must provide prospective businesses with market certainty that the state can provide a healthy workforce.
This is where the new testing strategy developed by KDHE comes into play. According to Governor Kelly the new “unified smart testing strategy” will see both private and public testing efforts coordinated across the state.
Kelly says the coordinated strategy will “go a long way in ensuring we can effectively test our population and identify where the virus exists within our communities.” Kelly says to assist with the strategy’s implementation and success the state has secured the services of Dr. Marci Nielsen the current vice-president for policy and strategy with GEHA (Jee-Uh) Health.
According to Kelly, Nielsen brings three decades of experience at the state, federal, non-profit, international and academic levels to the table.
Governor Kelly says additional information on the unified strategy will be released in the coming weeks. Governor Kelly’s is scheduled to hold her next weekly press conference at 4 pm next Monday.
