After starting the week with a notable decline in active coronavirus cases, Lyon County is closing the week with a rise in both new and active cases.
On Friday, Lyon County Public Health added seven new cases and just one recovery. The overall caseload now is at 1,051 since March. The current active case count is 58, up from 52 Thursday. Active cases had been as high as 69 Sunday.
Lyon County’s death toll remains at 33, but the number of deaths awaiting final cause from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment climbed from 3 to 4. Hospitalizations are at 5 for the second straight day after a recent peak of 8 Monday.
