Two area school districts are making adjustments as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
USD 417 Morris County canceled school Friday at the junior-senior high building with what the district calls a “recent increase in the number of required quarantines.” The district says this will let staff rearrange the school and ensure the minimum six-foot social distancing is available in all academic settings. High school extracurricular activities will move forward as planned with no activity bus. Junior high athletic practices are canceled.
Right now, two students have COVID-19 at Council Grove Junior-Senior High, with another 14 students in quarantine. The district also has one confirmed case and five quarantines among staff at Prairie Heights Elementary. Over 20 students are in quarantine at the school.
At USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley, a positive coronavirus case has been identified in a student at the high school. The student is in quarantine, as will be all close contacts.
The district says no additional measures are being advised — for now — by the Osage County Health Department, meaning classes and extracurricular activities remain on as scheduled.
