Flint Hills Community Health Center is looking good from an audit standpoint following the FHCHC Board of Directors monthly meeting Tuesday.
BKD CPA’s and Advisors Managing Director Christy Yoakum presented the board with a draft of the health center’s 2019 Audit Report. According to the presentation, the audit reflected a clean opinion indicating there were no internal control or compliance discrepancies for the 2019 fiscal year.
The health center managed to close out 2019 with an operating cash balance of roughly $190,000. FHCHC Executive Director Renee Hively says the report indicates the health center is continuing to make progress from a financial standpoint.
The board will receive the final audit report during its next meeting in October.
Unfortunately, the positive news did not extend to the August financial report which indicated the health center saw an overall net loss of $242,000 against a budgeted gain of $38,000. Finance Committee member Ron Hanson says a majority of the loss can be attributed to the health center not being able to recognize revenues due to the health center’s use of the federal paycheck protection program.
Revenues for the month came in seven percent under budget while expenses were roughly 26 percent above budget. Hively says this year has seen a lot of fluctuation financially speaking and she does not expect that to change so long as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
In separate business Tuesday, the board also received the monthly CQI, medical, dental and behavioral health clinic reports and continued discussions on credentialing. The board also reviewed the health center’s org chart, compensation determination and received a “Board Bootcamp update.”
One executive session also took place with no action taken. The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene for its monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27 at noon inside the Havenhill Conference Room and via Zoom.
