Applications and a proposal for policy changes in Emporia are among the agenda items for the Emporia City Commission’s study session Wednesday morning.
Commissioners will discuss the potential submission of a Kansas Department of Transportation Aviation application to fund a short runway expansion at the Emporia Municipal Airport. Staff are hoping to apply for roughly $600,000 with the city’s cost estimated at $60,000 for the project.
Commissioners will also receive a presentation from Emporia Community Action requesting the establishment of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee and a new city position of Chief of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
A review of 2020 general obligation bonds, Emporia Main Street’s contract with the city and an update on CARES/SPARK funding will also garner the commission’s attention.
The meeting begins at 10 am inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
