A blood drive was held today at the Flint Hills Mall to honor the memory of Emporia native MacKenzie Payne.
This is the third blood drive held in Payne’s honor. Payne was a graduate of Emporia High School, who planned on attending medical school at the University of Kansas before she was killed in Wichita in June 2018.
KVOE had the opportunity to speak with MacKenzie’s mother, Joie Payne, who says this is an opportunity for her daughter to do what she always wanted, save lives.
According to Susan Faler of the American Red Cross, the drives donation goal was 55 pints, and exactly 55 were collected.
