The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are reverting to prior guidance when it comes to close contacts of COVID-19 patients.
As it said at the outset of the current pandemic, the CDC now says close contacts should automatically get tested for coronavirus. The new guidance from the CDC says anybody who has been within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes should get tested.
Last month, the agency had said people don’t need to get tested for the virus if they did not feel sick.
The CDC says this is a clarification “due to the significance of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission.”
