A local case involving a law enforcement pursuit from almost two years ago appears to be close to a resolution.
In December 2018, Chelsea Brooks allegedly started a chase from Emporia to west Osage County, reaching speeds above 90 mph after narrowly missing several law enforcement vehicles or officers. Brooks was charged with several counts, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. She pleaded no contest to assault on a law enforcement officer in July, motioned to withdraw that plea afterward based on allegations of ineffective counsel and withdrew that motion earlier this month.
On Thursday, Brooks accepted a plea agreement for one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Sentencing will be 9 am Oct. 14.
