No injuries were reported after a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hit a contract vehicle for the railroad in southern Chase County this week.
Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker says the contracted spray truck from Right-A-Way Applicators was on the railroad right-of-way when the crash happened near Matfield Green on Tuesday. The truck driver, Todd Page, apparently did not see the oncoming train and turned onto the crossing. The train hit the truck’s front passenger fender and knocked it off the crossing.
Train traffic has since returned to normal.
