The Emporia High football team scored 32 unanswered points on the way to a 32-21 win over Atchison Friday night.
Atchison scored to cap their first possession on a 3 yard touchdown run by quarterback Patrick Denton. Emporia High would scored the next 32 points in picking up their first win of the season.
Cale Milleson connected with Camden Kirmer for a 23 yard touchdown pass. Kirmer then hooked up with Daniel Knapp for a 38 yard scoring pass to give the Spartans a 14-6 lead at halftime.
In the 3rd quarter Bobby Trujillo scored on a 4 yard run and added a 2 point conversion to give the Spartans a 22-6 lead.
In the 4th quarter Cale Milleson completed a pass to Charles Snyder for a 22 yard scoring play. Alex Allemang closed out the Emporia High scoring with a 21 yard fieldgoal.
Atchison would score twice in the final 5 minutes of play. Xavier Cushinberry scored on runs of 30 and 11 yards.
The Spartans with the win improve to 1-1 on the season. They will play Kapaun Mt. Carmel next Thursday in Wichita.
