Voluntary COVID-19 testing will be available for on-campus students at Emporia State University starting next week.
Vice President for Student Affairs Jim Williams says there will be three test periods: next Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 7-8 and Oct. 28-29. A random sample of students will get an invitation email a few days before the testing windows begin.
The goal is to test at least 350 students per round and start determining how prevalent the virus is on campus. That information will help monitor data changes and help with decision-making as the semester continues.
ESU is using the same saliva tests that were part of the mass testing effort before the fall semester began.
