Despite cool and damp conditions, organizers of the 18th annual Random Acts of Patriotism held the event Friday and still had a decent turnout at the Interstate 35 Melvern exit.
Longtime organizer John Kitt was pleased by the turnout. He tells KVOE News drivers passing the site seemed more enthusiastic about their support.
Kitt says organizers want to honor the sacrifices of the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and the plane crash outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Kitt also said it’s important to demonstrate respect for the history of the event.
Activities continue until sunset.
