Emporia Area Habitat for Humanity is using disc golf to raise money for ongoing and upcoming projects.
Habitat is partnering with Dynamic Discs and NexTech Wireless for a fundraising tournament at Hammond Park on Saturday. Dynamic Discs Event Coordinator Doug Bjerkaas says a four-person scramble format will be used.
With two builds nearing completion and a third in the works, Habitat Vice President Clinton Shown said every dollar helps.
Cost is $160 per four-person team or $40 a player, and people can be “free agents” and join teams at the event if they aren’t part of a team but want to participate.
Check-in and late registration starts at 8 am, with a clinic for new players at 9 am, a player meeting at 9:40 am and a shotgun start at 10 am. The awards ceremony and a free bag lunch from Planet Sub starts at noon.
