USD 456 Marais Des Cygnes was the latest school district to be placed into the spotlight as part of KVOE’s ongoing series of updates on school year operations this month.
Superintendent Joe Sample joined KVOE’s morning show and says for the most part the school year has felt practically normal. Two weeks into the year Sample says the entire district has adjusted well to the numerous mitigation strategies in play.
This includes following all KSDE guidelines and Governor Laura Kelly’s mask mandate. Temperature checks prior to entering facilities and continuous sanitation of frequently touched surfaces is also ongoing.
Sample says the district is extending those practices to its athletic events as well.
Sample says the collective desire amongst district patrons was for in-person education this year and the numerous practices the district has adopted is ensuring they can continue to meet that expectation. At this time the district has only roughly two to three students participating in online education at this time.
KVOE will be continuing its series of updates with local superintendents throughout the school year.
