Hetlinger Development Services is well into a campaign to support the special needs community in a nontraditional way.
Director of Development Alex Mosakowski Hetlinger’s Planting Hope Initiative is about a year into fundraising during KVOE’s Newsmaker Two segment Thursday. The initiative is a fundraising campaign to support the construction of a greenhouse and the development of a new horticultural therapy program through the agency.
Mosakowski says they are looking to raise just over $700,000 for the venture. He explains horticultural therapy offers numerous physical and mental benefits to patients.
The greenhouse will be located just south of Hetlinger’s main facility in the orchard area according to Executive Director Trudy Hutchinson. The current expectation is fundraising could be finished next year, meaning groundbreaking on the 70×30 foot facility by next spring.
