Lyon County Public Health is asking people who patronized a downtown Emporia bar earlier this week to self-quarantine after one person who attended was determined to have coronavirus.
Public Health says a patron of Town Royal, 405 Commercial, tested positive Thursday. The person apparently was at the bar between midnight and 1 am Sunday.
Public Health Support Manager Melissa Smith wishes to convey the positive patient visited other locations besides Town Royal and they are not seeking to single out the establishment. However; due to the amount of foot traffic that occurs inside drinking establishments on a regular basis contact tracing is extremely difficult in a case such as this, hence the public request for possible contacts to quarantine.
Potential contacts at other locations visited by the positive patient have been notified by Public Health. Town Royal is not being asked to close down or cease operations at this time as there is no cluster or outbreak associated with the establishment.
Smith says personal responsibility will be key in preventing any possible community COVID spread. This includes exercising caution when out in public amongst large groups.
Besides self-quarantining, residents who were in the bar at that time should also call Lyon County Public Health at 208-3741 to start the contact tracing process. Residents should monitor for these symptoms:
*Shortness of breath
*Headache
*Fever
*Cough
*Runny nose
*Muscle aches
*Fatigue and chills
*New loss of taste or smell
*Congestion
*Sore throat
*Nausea and vomiting
*Diarrhea
