The man arrested after a reported chase in and near Emporia early this week has been formally charged in connection to the alleged incident.
Guadalupe Murillo, age 20 of Emporia, is charged with flee and elude, five or more moving violations as well as marijuana possession and paraphernalia possession after the incident early Monday. There is an alternate flee and elude count also filed in Lyon County District Court.
Lyon County deputies have said the chase began shortly before 1 am Monday in the 1600 block of Road P. According to deputies, the chase developed after the car in question was allegedly driving without any headlight usage. Pursuit speeds allegedly approached 90 mph before the chase allegedly went into Emporia and eventually ended in the 100 block of East Second.
Murillo was apprehended and arrested. Initially, it was mentioned two passengers fled on foot and escaped. Court documents provided to KVOE News indicate at least one passenger got away. Suspect description has not been announced.
Murillo had his first appearance in Lyon County District Court on Wednesday. His preliminary hearing is at 9 am Sept. 30.
