The primary election saw record interest in mail ballots in Lyon County, and more of the same is shaping up for the general election in November.
With over two months yet before Election Day, over 630 requests have already been filed. County Clerk Tammy Vopat says her team is getting swamped, but she says “that’s not a bad thing.”
This follows over 3,700 requests for the primary election. By contrast, the 2016 general election had less than 600 requests.
Vopat says the primary election served as good preparation for what may come with the general election, and she credited her staff for handling the massive influx of requests
Voters wanting mail ballots can go online to www.ksvotes.org for an online application that will go directly to the Election Office. They can also go to www.lyoncounty.org, click Election Office under the Government drop-down tab, download the mail ballot application and then email the completed document to mailballot@lyoncounty.org.
