After more than a decade with CASA of the Flint Hills, Director Dena Russell-Marino has announced she will be moving on to a new role in the coming weeks.
Russell-Marino will be stepping down from her leadership role at the end of August and will be taking up the mantle of area manager for Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lyon County. Russell-Marino tells KVOE News the seed for her departure was planted after noticing a shortage in staffing and leadership within the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.
Russell-Marino says she is sad to be moving on after nearly 13 years of helping build CASA to where it is today. However; she is excited for the opportunity to do the same for another important organization like Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Russell-Marino also passed on some words of wisdom to the individual who will eventually take over her role as director of CASA of the Flint Hills.
While she is excited for the next step in her adventure, Russell-Marino tells KVOE News she will miss her interactions with her co-workers and colleagues as well as the individual children she works with on a regular basis.
Her final day with CASA will be Sept. 4 with her stepping into her new role with Big Brothers Big Sisters on Sept. 8. CASA will be holding a going away parade celebration for Russell-Marino on Aug. 28 at 1 pm.
