Law enforcement will be out in force — more so than normal the next two weekends.
“You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” starts Thursday and continues through Sunday. It then resumes Aug. 27 and ends on Labor Day.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Wednesday, Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope said deputies are hoping drivers play it safe, not just through Labor Day but at all times of year.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage agrees. She says people have a choice to drive safely…or not.
Both agencies will have extra officers out on streets and roads during the enforcement effort as they look for traffic infractions and signs of impaired driving. Overtime costs are covered by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
