A recent mailing to selected Lyon County voters from Missouri may seem out of the ordinary, but County Clerk Tammy Vopat says it’s typical for an election season — and it’s a valid mailing.
The mailing comes from Center for Voter Information, a nonprofit based in Washington, DC. It includes a statement about the benefits of voting by mail, as well as an application to get a mail ballot.
On KVOe’s 8:05 am newscast Tuesday, Vopat reminded voters they lock themselves into the mail ballot process if they make that request.
The Election Office sent out almost 3,800 applications for mail ballots for the primary election cycle. Vopat has already announced that process will not be duplicated for the general election. Instead, voters can go online to www.ksvotes.org for an online application that will go directly to the Election Office. They can also go to www.lyoncounty.org, click Election Office under the Government drop-down tab, download the mail ballot application and then email that document to mailballot@lyoncounty.org.
