Provisional ballots from the recent primary election received a final vote of approval or denial during the official vote canvass Monday morning.
All told, the county had 102 provisional ballots, 78 of which were approved by the County Board of Canvassers. The board also received nine provisional mail-in ballots, eight of which were approved.
Lyon County Clerk Tammy Vopat tells KVOE News the provisional mail-in-ballot number was pretty low when you consider the sheer number of mail ballots that were sent out this election cycle.
Now attention turns to the general election in November. Vopat says unlike the primary, the election office will not be sending out mail ballot applications.
Further details on the mail ballot email address will be announced at a later time.
The canvass did not lead to any changes in the Lyon County Commission Second and Third District races. Second District front-runner Doug Peck finished with 901 votes, Phil Mott finished with 449 while Robert McClelland finished with 414.
In the Third District race, incumbent Rollie Martin concluded the election cycle with 469 votes. Challengers Chris Bartel and Jarom Smith finished with 294 and 281 votes respectively.
The official voter turnout for the primary was 31.65 percent.
