The Kansas Geological Survey confirms a small earthquake had its epicenter at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve recently.
The Geological Survey says a magnitude 2.2 quake happened shortly after 3 pm July 31. The quake was near the west edge of preserve property about four miles northwest of Strong City. No injuries or damage were reported.
The quake is Chase County’s seventh of the year, with all having magnitudes between 2 and 2.8 and all taking place in the northwest quarter of the county. No damage or injuries have been reported with the prior activity.
