The Kansas City Royals were winners Friday night, holding on for a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.
Ryan McBroom hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to break a 2-2 tie.
Nick Heath and Nicky Lopez also drove in runs for the Royals.
Royals Starter Jakob Junis gave up 2 home runs in 4 and 2 thirds innings. Greg Holland earned the win in relief. Josh Staumont and Scott Barlow tossed 2 scoreless innings. Trevor Rosenthal earned the save, his 2nd of the season.
The Royals and Twins play again Saturday evening. Danny Duffy is the starting pitcher for the Royals with first pitch set for 6:05. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM, coverage begins at 5:30p.
The Royals have designated pitcher Jorge Lopez for assignment. He made 1 start this season and was recently placed on the bereavement/family medical emergency list.
Lopez was acquired from Milwaukee in the Mike Moustakas trade.
