Emergency personnel transported a Kansas City Resident to Newman Regional Health following a single-vehicle accident in Chase County Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to northbound mile marker 115 on the Kansas Turnpike shortly after 4:30 pm. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash log, a 2019 Toyota Highlander driven by 42-year-old Suad Yousef of Kansas City was traveling northbound when Yousef reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.
The Highlander than left the road and struck a barrier wall. Yousef was transported by EMS with suspected minor injuries, however, four other passengers in the vehicle were unharmed.
All five occupants in the vehicle were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
